On Hold

As you may have noticed, I missed the last couple of days. Wednesday I missed on purpose, as this is the day I had set aside for reader questions and I just don't have any yet. I may see if I can fill it with something else next week. But I also missed Thursday and Friday, this is because I was not feeling well and the computer screen was hurting my head.  I may or may not be able to write any entries this upcoming week, as I am in a couple of theatre productions and one of them is going in to tech week on Monday.  It will be a mad dash to finish sets and costumes before we open.  Plus rehearsals will be close to six hours a day.  I will try to get in at least a couple, but no matter what should be back to blogging in August. Thanks for reading, and I hope you are eager to see what I have in store when I come back.

Tuesday's Beauty - Tip #1

I'm starting you out easy on the tips.  Keeping it simple for you, and for me.  So, without further ado, here is today's beauty tip: Wash and Moisturize your face every night before bed.  It IS best to use a cleaner and moisturizer that is made specifically for your face.  However, in a pinch, you can wash your face with your body wash and put a little body lotion on your face.

Let's look at why it is important to wash your face before bed:

  1. Bacteria on your face can cause acne, cleaning your face will help get rid of bacteria.
  2. Throughout the day your face gets covered in dirt and nastiness, your skin has trouble refreshing itself if left dirty.
  3. Cleaning your skin before moisturizing helps the moisture get into your pores instead of just sitting on top of the dirt.

Now, why is it important to moisturize your face before bed?

  1. It will ward off dry skin, the reason being obvious.
  2. Believe it or not it will also help ward of OILY skin.  A lot of people who have problems with oil stop moisturizing, but that causes more oil to be produced when your face tries to compensate.  Much like how you gain weight when you crash diet.
  3. It helps keep away wrinkles.  Wrinkles form when your skin dries out, and you are never too young to worry about wrinkles.  Trust me.

AVON Super Extend Mascara Review

AVON's Super Extend Mascara is an amazing investment for my makeup bag. I have never used anything like it. I initially bought it for a play I was doing, where my character was based off of Dolly Parton. I thought I would have to buy fake lashes to have them be seen from the audience. It just so happened that this mascara came out the week before my play opened, so I got some to try. I put it on for my dress rehearsal, and I even fooled MYSELF into thinking I had on false lashes. They were thick, and long. But, my favorite thing about the Super Extend Mascara is this: When I am a bad girl, and don't wash my face before bed (this happens often after a play, when I am too exhausted to care about my skin) it doesn't look bad in the morning! Normally (and, yes, even with other AVON mascaras...) I will end up with "raccoon eyes" in the morning. Granted, with most AVON mascaras it is not as bad as with grocery store brands. However, with the Super Extend Mascara I honestly forgot I had gone to bed with it on! I woke up and saw myself in the mirror and under my eyes was totally clean. No smears. No flakes. None of that gross stuff in the corners of my eyes, either. And I didn't have to put mascara on! It was already there. I'm not condoning two-day makeup, or not washing your face before bed. But, let's be honest, we've all done it before. Let me just leave you with this conclusion: AVON's Super Extend Mascara is the best mascara I have ever used. And I absolutely love it!

Fitness Friday - Tip #1

For our first Fitness Friday I am going to let you in on a little secret I've learned for burning calories. Come closer. Little closer. I don't want just anyone hearing. Ok, you ready to hear it? Keep moving! That's the most basic tip I can give you, which is why I'm putting it as our first one. You're not going to be a super model in no time, but it will help keep you from adding more weight on. Waiting for a meeting, or reading an article for an essay? Pace. Choice between stairs and elevator? Pick the stairs. Going to the grocery store or mall? Park at the end of the parking lot. I even knew a guy when I worked at a grocery store who would come in every morning and walk laps around the store. The main idea is to keep active. You can always be doing something. Sitting at your desk at work, bring in a balance ball and sit on that instead of your chair. Or set a time each hour to stop what your doing and just stretch a little. Anything you can do to keep yourself moving, do it. Sometimes my family thinks I'm going insane because I will rock back and forth in my chair. That's just me keeping my body moving. Obviously, the more you move the better, but some of us have very busy lifestyles and don't have time to make it to the gym every day. And those of us that do sometimes have a little trouble laying off the sweets (that one applies to me, for sure). No matter what the case, if you want to avoid putting on a lot of extra weight, make sure you are always in action.

I hope this tip helps some of you. And don't forget to send in any questions you would like answered on Wednesday.

Have a beautiful, healthy day.

Welcome to my new blog.

Hi there, my name is Alyssa and I am an AVON lady. That isn't all I do, but that is what inspired me to start this blog. Everyone wants to be healthy and beautiful, but not everyone has time to figure out what to do or what products to use. I am here to help. I will give you daily tips and reviews about beauty, health and fitness. I will also let you know what's new with AVON every other week. Don't worry, I won't only be reviewing AVON products, though that will probably be most of it simply because that is what I mostly use. I will take requests for AVON and non-AVON reviews, however if I cannot afford the product requested I will be unable to review. I also encourage my readers to ask me questions and will dedicate every Wednesday to answering questions to the best of my ability. If I can't find the answer I will do my best to find the proper answer. All questions must be related to my writing area, so keep that in mind before asking me questions about how to draw, or why your cat ran up a tree.

I look forward to writing for you all, and will do my best to keep this up without faltering.
